Job Description Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented BIM Designer 3 to join our electrical VDC team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating various electrical projects. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of BIM tools, a strong understanding of electrical design, and experience working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Job Description:
Role & Responsibilities
BIM Development & Coordination:
  • Create, manage, and refine 3D models for electrical systems using Revit.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and industry trades to ensure seamless model integration.
  • Maintain project models in accordance with BIM execution plans and project-specific standards.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve clashes between electrical and other systems using clash detection tools like Navisworks.

Design Support & Documentation:
  • Prepare technical drawings and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Generate schedules and Bill of Materials (BOM) from BIM models to support procurement and construction teams.

Project Management & Coordination:
  • Lead BIM coordination meetings and communicate with both internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and executing BIM workflows for medium to large projects.
  • Manage deadlines and deliverables, ensuring timely submission of accurate models and documentation.
  • Support the creation and enforcement of BIM standards and best practices across projects.

Software & Process Optimization:
  • Identify opportunities to improve modeling workflows and implement new tools or processes.
  • Train Designer 1 & 2 in BIM best practices and provide technical guidance as needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) year degree in electrical construction, electrical design for construction or similar preferred.

Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in BIM coordination or electrical design within the construction industry.
  • Experience working on medium-to-scale projects involving complex electrical systems.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks or Revizto, Bluebeam, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with BIM standards model coordination platforms.
  • Understanding of electrical systems.

Soft Skills:
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Dynamo scripting or other automation tools for Revit workflows.
  • Experience with cloud-based collaboration tools (e.g., BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud).
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEC, etc.).

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
