Job description

Mechanical Designer
Location: San Fernando Valley, CA
Pay: $52.00–$62.00 per hour, depending on experience

This position is ideal for someone with strong SolidWorks skills who can take designs from concept through detailed manufacturing documentation.

What You’ll Do
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
  • Develop assemblies, layouts, components, and production-ready drawings.
  • Prepare and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
  • Update and revise existing product designs and drawings.
  • Apply GD&T and manufacturing tolerances to detailed drawings.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and design modifications.
  • Work directly with Engineering and Manufacturing to resolve design and production issues.
  • Design with manufacturability, quality, and cost in mind.
  • Assist with product improvements and cost-reduction projects.
  • Maintain accurate revisions and engineering documentation.
Requirements
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software.
  • Experience creating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
  • Understanding of mechanical assemblies and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with GD&T.
  • Experience working with machining, sheet metal, or other manufactured components preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple design assignments.
  • Comfortable working closely with engineers, machinists, and production personnel.
