About this opportunity

APPLE VALLEY NEWS NOW is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic News Producer to craft dynamic newscasts that are informative, accurate, and engaging across platforms. Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels during breaking news, and brings exceptional writing skills, strong journalistic judgment, and social media/digital savvy. This position is based at KVEW-TV in Kennewick, Washington, located in the Tri-Cities area.

What you'll do

  • Produce, write, and coordinate daily newscasts from concept to execution
  • Make timely editorial decisions based on daily content, breaking news, and developing coverage
  • Write and edit scripts, teases, and copy with strong accuracy and clarity
  • Collaborate with anchors, reporters, and the newsroom to optimize story presentation
  • Coordinate elements and timing with directors and newsroom staff to ensure clean execution
  • Use social media and digital platforms to publish content and generate story ideas
  • Conduct research and build informative segments that serve our target audiences on all platforms
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the News Director

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong broadcast writing skills (AP style preferred) and solid news judgment
  • Prior leadership or producing experience in a newsroom environment
  • Self-motivation, strong organization, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and adapt in a high-pressure, deadline-driven setting
  • Familiarity with Inception (preferred but not required)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere (preferred but not required)
