Overview
The Evening/Weekend supervisor leads overall library building operations and services during scheduled evening and weekend shifts. During those times, this position provides sole staff supervision of library public service operations, including student supervision, circulation, reserves, interlibrary loan, public computing, directional reference and reference referrals, customer safety, and building and collection security. This role serves as a part of the Access Services team and part of the larger Access, Instruction, & Research Services department.
This 0.60 position begins on August 24th and is a nine-month per year position that runs from late August to early May, with the opportunity to cover occasional special occasions such as graduation and reunion.
The weekly schedule during the academic year will be: Monday & Tuesday 4:30pm-11pm, Friday 4pm-8pm, Saturday 10:00am-8:00pm, Sunday 4:30pm to 11pm. There are no regular working hours during Fall/Spring Breaks, J-Term (mid-December to mid-January), and summer break, except to participate in possible short-term projects and strategic meetings held during those times.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides sole staff supervision of library public service operations-including circulation, ILL, and reference referrals- and student supervision, while ensuring customer safety, building security, and scheduled opening/closing procedures.
- Serves as the first staff point of contact for the community, resolving complex borrower issues by interpreting library policy to foster an improved understanding of community stewardship for resources.
- Ensures the efficient handling, re-shelving, and processing of library materials while assisting in the creation of timely statistical reports relating to collection and service use.
- Provides secondary supervision, training, and professional mentorship for ~40 student employees to ensure consistent service desk staffing and daily operational excellence.
- Periodically staff public service points, providing assistance and excellent service to faculty, staff, students, and community patrons needing help with library collections and services
Required qualifications:
- Associate Degree
- Customer service experience
- Commitment to user-centered library services
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, commitment to accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated reliability and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Academic library experience.
- Experience in training and overseeing student workers.

$25.50-$26.66 Hourly
