Job description

Job Title: Senior UX Engineer
Location: Redmond, WA
Worksite: Onsite
About WCT
WCT is a global talent solutions partner committed to delivering high-impact technology and engineering talent to some of the world's most innovative companies. As a WCT employee, you'll be part of a dynamic, growth-oriented culture that values collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence in execution.
Role Summary
  • Own the user experience end to end - from concept through production - for an internal enterprise platform that spans data dashboards, workflow tools, admin portals, and AI-powered interfaces. You will design and build intuitive, accessible front-end experiences using modern frameworks, collaborating closely with data engineering and AI teams to bring complex capabilities to life for real users. We need someone who has shipped real products that measurably improved how customers (internal or external) interact with software - not just coded to a spec, but shaped the experience itself.

What You'll Do
  • Design and build user-centered interfaces - own interaction design, prototyping, and front-end implementation for a modern enterprise platform built on the latest web technologies.
  • Drive UX improvements grounded in real user needs - identify friction, propose solutions, and iterate based on feedback and usage patterns to continuously raise the bar on usability.
  • Build AI-powered UX - design and implement conversational interfaces, copilot experiences, and prompt-driven workflows that make AI capabilities intuitive and trustworthy for end users.
  • Ensure accessibility and design system compliance - deliver experiences that meet WCAG standards and align with the Microsoft Fluent UI design system.
  • Collaborate with data and AI teams - partner with data engineers and AI/ML engineers to translate complex back-end capabilities (dashboards, analytics, LLM-powered features) into clean, understandable user experiences.
  • Champion UX quality - advocate for the user across the team; establish front-end patterns, component libraries, and UX standards that scale.

Required Qualifications (Mandatory)
  • 5-8 years of professional UX engineering experience - designing AND building production front-end applications.
  • Demonstrated real-project impact - a portfolio or track record of shipped products where you meaningfully improved the user experience, backed by concrete outcomes (reduced task time, improved adoption, user feedback, etc.). We value real delivery over theoretical knowledge.
  • Modern front-end development - strong proficiency in at least one modern framework (React, Angular, or Vue); hands-on with TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design. Willingness to evaluate and adopt the latest technologies for a greenfield build.
  • User-centered design skills - ability to conduct user research, translate findings into wireframes/prototypes, and iterate through design-build-test cycles. You think in user journeys, not just components.
  • Accessibility expertise - working knowledge of WCAG 2.1+ guidelines and practical experience building accessible web applications.
  • Design system fluency - experience working with or contributing to a design system (Fluent UI, Material, or equivalent); ability to build and maintain reusable component libraries. [
  • AI-aware UX design - understanding of AI/LLM concepts sufficient to design effective UX for AI-powered features (chat interfaces, copilot patterns, AI-generated content presentation, confidence/trust indicators).
  • Independent delivery - proven ability to operate with minimal supervision, owning the UX from problem definition through shipped solution.

Working Knowledge Required (Basic / Foundational)
  • Cloud fundamentals - basic familiarity with Azure (or equivalent cloud), including identity/Entra, App Service, and deployment concepts.
  • API integration - comfortable consuming REST APIs and collaborating with backend engineers (.NET/C# or Python).
  • CI/CD - basic understanding of build/deploy pipelines and version control workflows.
  • Security & compliance - awareness of secure front-end development practices (XSS prevention, CSP, secure auth flows).

Preferred / Nice-to-Have
  • Experience with Figma for design and prototyping.
  • Usability testing and analytics - running usability studies, A/B tests, or leveraging product analytics (e.g., Clarity, Application Insights) to drive UX decisions.
  • Experience building data-heavy UX - dashboards, visualizations, reporting interfaces (Power BI embedding, D3.js, or similar).
  • Experience modernizing legacy desktop or on-prem tools into modern cloud-native web experiences.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fluent UI React components specifically.
  • Exposure to containerization (Docker), real-time features (WebSockets/SignalR), or micro-frontend architectures.

Compensation / Salary Range: The typical pay range for this role is: USD $85,000/Yearly - $95,000/Yearly. Factors that may affect pay within or outside of this range may include but not limited to geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Benefits: Medical, dental, Vision, Life, PTO, Holidays, 401(k) benefits and ancillaries may be available for eligible WCT employees and may vary depending on the nature of your employment.
WCT will accept applications and processes offers for these roles until the role is filled.
Equal Employment Opportunity Declaration:
WCT is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, ancestry, color, family or medical care leave, gender identity or expression, genetic information, marital status, medical condition, national origin, physical or mental disability, political affiliation, protected veteran status, race, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations and ordinances.
