Job Description
AECOM Hunt is seeking Digital Technology Specialist Intern - Part timeto join our Construction Management team in Los Angeles, CA.
Job Responsibilities will include but not limited to supporting field engineers or surveyors. Interns will supplement project workflows by:
  • Assist with development, management, and quality review of BIM models using Revit and support overall model coordination efforts
  • Participate in coordination meetings, help track clashes and design issues, and support issue resolution workflows using tools such as Revizto, Navisworks and Autodesk Forma
  • Support digital construction workflows, including project setup, model integration, and document management across construction technology platforms
  • Create visual content including site logistics plans, construction phasing diagrams, 4D animations, renderings, walkthroughs, and presentation graphics for RFPs and client presentations
  • Build and assemble 3D scenes using BIM, CAD, and design data, including site environments, equipment, and construction elements
  • Produce visual deliverables such as still images, animations, and diagrams using tools like Twinmotion, Unreal Engine, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Support reality capture workflows including processing drone imagery, laser scans, and 360° documentation into Ortho mosaics, 3D models, point clouds, and analysis outputs
  • Create physical 3D printed models from BIM and 3D modeling massing to support project visualization, design reviews, stakeholder engagement, and construction planning activities.
  • Assist with integrating reality capture data into platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Forma, Navisworks, Revizto, and DroneDeploy to support coordination and validation
  • Help document QA/QC field conditions and support verification of as-built conditions prior to installation, wall closure, direct bury or cover-up
  • Maintain drone operation records including flight logs, battery tracking, and equipment maintenance documentation
  • Support development of standardized workflows, including drone capture procedures, data management processes, and digital delivery standards

Additional tasks based on project requirements and team needs, Interns will also receive training and contribute to:
  • Clash Detection Reviews in coordination platforms.
  • Jobwalks to verify as-built conditions.
  • Acting as a site safety officer 100% of the time while on-site.
  • Producing jobsite imaging for project documentation.
  • Reviewing issue lists generated by VDC Managers or Superintendents and assisting in action planning.
  • Supporting the team through multiple documentation methods including 360 photos, laser scans, drone flights, video, and photo documentation for data retrieval - including existing condition documentation and progress tracking for new and ongoing construction activities.

Position Overview
The Digital Technology Intern will support the Digital Technology team in advancing and maintaining digital construction processes throughout the project lifecycle. This role offers hands-on experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM), information management, model coordination, visualization, reality capture, and data analytics while collaborating with experienced industry professionals.
The intern will assist with model reviews, coordination activities, project data management, visual content development, reality capture initiatives, and reporting efforts. In addition, the position provides exposure to innovative construction technologies and digital workflows, enabling the intern to contribute meaningfully to active projects while developing practical technical skills.
This internship is designed to deliver comprehensive industry experience through technical training, mentorship, and real-world project involvement. Participants will gain valuable insight into Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) practices and build a strong foundation for a successful career in digital construction and emerging construction technologies.
Internships are designed to introduce and build essential hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Candidate must be pursuing a Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, VDC, BIM, similar discipline, and must have completed at least 1 year of study.
  • Basic understanding of construction documents and building systems with the ability to read construction documents.
  • Familiarity with BIM concepts (Revit exposure preferred)
  • Strong interest in construction technology and digital workflows
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Must have a valid U.S driver's license and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred (OSHA 10 Certification minimum requirement)
  • Experience with Photogrammetry, LiDAR, DroneDeploy, Pix4D, ReCap Pro, Faro Scene, Leica Cyclone Register 360 Plus, Trimble Connect•
  • 2 years of experience in 3D modeling/drafting (Autodesk Revit, Rhino, or SketchUp is a plus).
  • Construction jobsite experience is a plus.
  • Exposure to BIM coordination or VDC workflows•
  • Interest in visualization tools (Twinmotion, Enscape)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
