Position Description
This position provides expert search, evidence synthesis, and instruction services to students, faculty, researchers, and clinicians at TTUHSC. It is a professional librarian role based at the Lubbock campus, reporting to the Associate Managing Director.
Major/Essential Functions
- Provide reference and research assistance through LibChat, virtual, and in-person channels, including mediated and expert literature searches in biomedical databases.
- Contribute to systematic reviews and evidence synthesis projects - developing, documenting, and translating reproducible search strategies using established methodology (e.g., PRISMA, Cochrane, JBI).
- Co-develop and teach the MSIV library elective course.
- Co-develop and teach evidence-based medicine skills to School of Medicine clerkship students.
- Provide instruction, orientations, and workshops across schools and programs, and support citation and reference management software.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance LibGuides content in areas of responsibility.
- Serve as liaison to assigned schools and departments and support library outreach and community engagement services.
- Support researchers, as needed, with research impact metrics, scholarly communication, and funder public-access policy questions.
Preferred Qualifications
- MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution.
- Training and/or experience searching health and biomedical sciences databases and resources.
- Experience teaching evidence-based practice or evidence-based medicine concepts.
- Experience using reference management software (e.g., EndNote, Zotero, Covidence).
- Experience supporting systematic reviews or other evidence synthesis.
- Experience in an academic health sciences or hospital library.
- Knowledge of research impact metrics, scholarly communication, or funder public-access policies.
Pay Statement

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus three years of supervisory experience OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.

Visa Information
TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
