Job description

Project Manager - Mechanical Contracting

Austin, Texas


Position Overview


We are seeking a Project Manager with proven experience managing large-scale mechanical construction projects. This is a mid-level role reporting to a Senior Project Manager and supporting the execution of a major commercial project. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing HVAC, piping, and/or plumbing scopes within a union mechanical contracting environment and be comfortable working on complex, fast-paced projects with multiple stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities


  • Manage day-to-day project execution under the direction of the Senior Project Manager
  • Oversee HVAC, piping, and/or plumbing scopes from preconstruction through closeout
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, cost forecasts, and schedules
  • Review and manage subcontractor/vendor contracts and performance
  • Lead coordination meetings with field teams, subcontractors, engineers, and owners
  • Track and manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, and procurement logs
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, safety standards, and quality requirements
  • Support labor planning and collaborate with union field leadership
  • Identify project risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies
  • Maintain strong client relationships and represent the company professionally


Qualifications


Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing HVAC, piping, and/or plumbing construction projects
  • Experience on large commercial or industrial projects
  • Experience working in a union mechanical contracting environment
  • Bachelor’s degree (4-year) required — preferably in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction sequencing, and cost control
  • Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred:

  • Experience supporting projects exceeding $20M+ in mechanical scope
  • Strong financial acumen and forecasting ability
  • Experience collaborating directly with Senior Project Managers on complex builds
