Job description

Mechanical Designer

Location: Port Huron, Michigan]

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer with strong machine design experience to support the development of automated machinery, robotic work cells, assembly stations, actuators, and conveyor systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design automated equipment and robotic systems using SolidWorks 3D CAD.
  • Create detailed mechanical designs, assemblies, layouts, drawings, and Bills of Material.
  • Perform engineering calculations, component sizing, and material selection.
  • Design and integrate hydraulic and pneumatic systems for custom automation equipment.
  • Support manufacturing, assembly, installation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, sales, and internal teams to develop effective solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical support for upgrades and retrofit projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of mechanical design experience in machinery, automation, or custom equipment.
  • Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks (SolidWorks Simulation experience is a plus).
  • Hands-on experience designing machinery with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, machine design principles, and component selection.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience in plastics, metals, or automated manufacturing environments is preferred.

Preferred Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience designing robotic assembly systems, material handling equipment, conveyors, or automated work cells.
