About the Company

Octane Multimedia is a dynamic and fast-growing film studio focused on producing high-quality, commercially driven feature films across multiple genres. Our slate includes both theatrical and streaming releases, with a strong emphasis on filmmaker-driven content, strategic partnerships, and efficient, scalable production. We are seeking a seasoned Head of Physical Production to oversee the successful execution of our film slate from greenlight through delivery.

Position Summary

The Head of Physical Production will be responsible for managing all aspects of physical production across the studio’s slate of feature films. This includes overseeing budgets, schedules, and workflows from development through post-production to ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and at the highest quality. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong organizational, creative, and financial acumen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the studio’s production slate, from pre-production through delivery.
     

  • Collaborate with development and finance teams to evaluate project feasibility, estimate budgets, and establish schedules during the greenlight process.
     

  • Hire, manage, and supervise line producers, production managers, post supervisors, and other key production personnel.
     

  • Maintain direct oversight of cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, union compliance, and production insurance requirements.
     

  • Troubleshoot production issues on set and in post to minimize delays, mitigate risks, and maintain quality standards.
     

  • Vet and approve all production-related vendors, crew, and locations in alignment with project needs and budgets.
     

  • Collaborate closely with post-production and delivery teams to ensure smooth handoff and efficient workflows.
     

  • Ensure compliance with union and guild regulations (DGA, SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, etc.).
     

  • Report weekly to executive leadership on project status, challenges, and performance against budget and schedule.
     

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in physical production, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
     

  • Proven track record managing multiple films simultaneously across various budget levels (indie to mid-tier studio).
     

  • Deep knowledge of production workflows, budgeting software (e.g., Movie Magic, Hot Budget), and scheduling tools.
     

  • Strong relationships with vendors, production crews, and talent across key production hubs (LA, Atlanta, Vancouver, etc.).
     

  • Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
     

  • Comfortable navigating the complexities of both union and non-union shoots.
     

  • Able to travel as needed for productions.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience overseeing international productions and working with local film commissions and tax incentives.
     

  • Familiarity with VFX-heavy productions or virtual production pipelines.
     

  • Post-production and delivery experience is a strong plus.
