Materials Engineering Technician- Level II
We are looking for a talented Materials Engineering Technician- Level II to join our team specializing in analytical/material testing for our Cookeville, TN location. This role performs routine analyses using materials engineering tools, analytical instrumentation, and test equipment, while positively impacting the organization's performance. This role will support testing, analysis, and reporting related to filtration products, materials, and media. Candidate will work closely with engineers, scientists, and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, timely testing that supports product development, quality, and customer requirements. This role is 100% on-site.
Responsibilities
- Operate analytical instruments and equipment to perform physical analyses supporting engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
- Perform routine laboratory tests on filtration products, components, and media following established methods, standards, and procedures.
- Follow all safety and quality procedures to maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
- Assist in compiling and analyzing test results for reporting to engineers and project leaders.
- Maintain laboratory supplies, cleanliness, and readiness for ongoing testing activities.
- Timely delivery of walk-in requests from internal customers
- Action oriented, taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.
- Base understanding of filtration products and their applications
- Collaborate with team members to support product development projects, quality investigations, and customer testing requests.
- Prepare samples and specimens using standard laboratory techniques, procedures, and work instructions
- Acquire, interpret, and document data; generate laboratory and technical reports as needed
- Develop, document, and maintain laboratory test methods
- Perform routine instrument calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs
- Coordinate chemical waste collection, transportation, and disposal documentation
- Train and support apprentices, trainees, and technicians
- Interface with customers, suppliers, engineers, and cross-functional teams
- Coordinate program activities including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking of testing, samples or laboratory consumables.
- Support quality procedures, work instructions, audits, and corrective actions
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and laboratory projects
- Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders
- Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.
- Regionally applicable certification or two-year associate degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of lab experience.
- Analytical instrumentation experience.
- Knowledge of quality systems, a plus.
- Basic knowledge of Laboratory Safe Practices.
- Strong communication skills and ability to write technical documents, a plus.
Base salary range: $49,061 - $61,326/year
Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate's qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
