Position Summary
Works under the supervision of the Director of Radiology. The Ultrasound Manager is responsible for the daily operational oversight, financial performance, personnel management, capital planning, and strategic initiatives of the Ultrasound department.
The Manager will ensure safe, efficient, patient-centered imaging services while promoting staff engagement, quality improvement, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day operational leadership for the Ultrasound department
  • Manage staffing schedules and workforce planning to maintain optimal department coverage
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and team development initiatives
  • Oversee employee performance management, coaching, and disciplinary processes
  • Ensure accurate payroll processing, timekeeping, and resolution of payroll discrepancies
  • Maintain employee HR documentation and compliance requirements
  • Coordinate supply ordering and equipment selection to support operational efficiency
  • Oversee capital planning and equipment acquisitions aligned with clinical and organizational goals
  • Collaborate with physicians, leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and workflow
  • Support ongoing education, training, and professional development for Ultrasound team members
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards
  • Serve as liaison with the Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) Medical Sonography Program to support collaboration and workforce development initiatives
  • Monitor departmental financial performance, productivity, and operational metrics

Qualifications
Education
  • Associate Degree from an accredited Sonography Program required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of technologist experience required
  • Minimum of 1 year of radiology leadership experience required

Licensure / Certification
  • ARDMS certification required
  • ARDMS and RVT certifications preferred
