Role Summary:

Tyson Foods is looking for a Customer Category Manager to serve as the Category Advisor for one of our strategic retailers across our Refrigerated portfolio. This role leads category strategy and delivers data-driven insights, providing independent guidance to the customer to drive profitable growth for both the retailer and Tyson's portfolio of top performing brands.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to our strategic retailer partners for category management needs at the national and divisional level
  • Analyze category, shopper, and competitive data utilizing syndicated data (IRI/NielsenIQ) to identify growth opportunities and inform category strategies
  • Develop and deliver actionable insights that influence assortment, pricing, promotion, and shelving decisions leveraging data from multiple sources
  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling recommendations for both internal teams and customer partners
  • Lead customer-facing presentations, line reviews, and business updates to drive alignment and growth initiatives with cross-functional partners
  • Provide ongoing reporting and scorecards to our strategic retailer partners and Tyson sales team members to monitor key goals (KPIs) and initiatives
  • Play a part in driving Tyson's Category Management & Analytics team performance, development, and impact through socialization of best practices and perspective with team members in formal and informal forums.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics or related field
  • 5+ years in Category Management supporting grocery or mass retailers
  • Experience with fast-moving CPG brands or grocery industry
  • Technical skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Power BI and Power Query a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills - verbal, written and presentation.
  • Willingness to travel 10-25% of the time for customer meetings and internal meetings (varies based on location relative to customer).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Category Advisor or Category Captain
  • Advanced technical skills to handle the complexities of a strategic retailer with national and divisional level requests
  • Strong storytelling skills - ability to tell the story with the data in a digestible way
  • Positive, proactive, agile and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

This role plays a critical part in shaping category strategy with our strategic retailers by bridging insights with execution-driving wins for the customer, the shopper, and the business. Success is measured by the ability to influence decisions, strengthen partnerships, and deliver tangible category growth.
