Peer Tutor Coordinator
The specific purpose of the Peer Tutoring Coordinator is to support student retention and graduation by
overseeing the delivery of academic tutoring. The coordinator manages and promotes individual and
group tutoring sessions, recruits and trains peer tutors, and helps ensure students have access to effective
academic support resources. Through collaboration with students, peer tutors, and campus partners, the
coordinator fosters a supportive learning environment that assists students in achieving academic success
and overcoming academic challenges.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Peer Tutoring Coordinator:
โ Recruit tutors for one-on-one tutoring, drop-in tutoring, content review sessions and study groups.
โ Create and update electronic forms that facilitate the coordination of tutoring services.
โ Accept and process Peer Tutor Request Forms.
โ Communicate with faculty to seek out recommended, highly qualified tutors for both traditional
and block courses.
โ Publicize all tutoring resources through flyers, college student engagement portal, and social
media.
โ Gather, analyze, and synthesize statistical data on the effectiveness of Peer Tutoring Services
using internal reports and data tracking system.
โ Prepare an end-of-the-semester report of collected quantitative and qualitative data on Peer
Tutoring Services and submits reports to the Director of SSS & CORE.
โ Oversee budget for Peer Tutoring Services including reviewing and approving tutor timesheets.
โ Individually meet with students on an as needed basis to provide assistance with general study
skills.
โ Peer Tutoring ServicesโTutorial Training and Supervision: The Peer Tutoring Services
Coordinator is responsible for providing appropriate training and onboarding for every hired peer
tutor, overseeing the working relationship between tutor and tutee, and ensuring the review and
approval of all tutor time sheets.
โ Create, edit, and update all policies and forms that serve as the structure of Peer Tutoring
Services program.
โ Create, edit, update, and distribute Peer Tutoring Services Manual to all tutors.
โ Individually train tutors with discussion of the Peer Tutor Training Manual
โ Maintain contact with tutors throughout the semester addressing issues in a timely manner as
they arise.
Qualifications:
โ A Bachelorโs Degree in relevant fields (Education, Liberal Arts, Social Work, Counseling,
Psychology, Science or Math).
โ Preferred course work or practical experience with reading, tutoring, learning theory, and/or
teaching underprepared students.
โ Experience with educational technology.
โ Must be able to perform all job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
โ Must be able to function effectively in a busy environment with interruptions.
โ Constant use of computer and telephone.
โ Some occasional lifting (20-35 pounds)
