Position Details

  • Reporting Manager: Grade Level Supervisor
  • Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
  • Type: Regular, Part-Time
  • Program: Texas Virtual Schools

Overview
The Certified Evening Tutor will be responsible for delivering high-quality virtual instruction, assessing student learning, and providing targeted academic support to ensure student success. This position will primarily focus on strong communication, technology proficiency, and the ability to effectively engage students in a remote learning environment, and require the ability to manage instruction independently, adapt to diverse student needs, and maintain accurate documentation to fulfill our mission of empowering families and unleashing potential.
Essential Duties

  • Plan lessons and teach live sessions
  • Assess learning and complete grading
  • Provide tutoring and small group intervention as needed
  • Communicate with students and families
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation
  • Communicate with supervisor and document services provided
  • You will play a key role in our collective success by proactively pivoting to support emerging business needs and strategic priorities directed by your manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant role or industry, preferably in a remote environment.
  • Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 1โ€“2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) in a professional or academic setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels (Email, Google Chat, and
  • Document Comments) with high clarity and low ambiguity.
  • Access to a private, secure, high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.
  • Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and online teaching tools.
  • Strong technology skills and the ability to navigate various educational software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with students effectively.
  • Adaptable and flexible to accommodate varying grade levels and subject areas.
  • Strong classroom management skills to maintain a positive and orderly environment.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students' learning and growth.
