At aes we are looking for a Turbine Operator
Role description:
Under the direction of the Shift Team Leader, the Turbine Operator monitors and operates all related equipment and systems associated with the Steam Turbine Generator.
Responsabilities:
  • Strict adherence to safety regulations and policies.
  • Participates as an active member of the AES Puerto Rico plant wide meetings.
  • Operates all Turbine area equipment in a correct, efficient and safe manner. Includes operating pumps, motors, transformers, compressors and valves, as directed by the Control Room Operator, for plant start-up and shut down.
  • Responsible for monitoring and testing the water and steam quality of the Boiler Water chemistry.
  • Prepare and execute Lock Out/Tag Out of area systems and equipment, and restore such systems and equipment to operation after maintenance
  • Assist maintenance and contractor personnel preparing area work clearance permits.
  • Perform simple, routine maintenance actions, as training and experience allows, such as cleaning or changing filters, lubricating operating equipment, cleaning and lubricating valves, and changing oil.
  • Conduct air tests to prepare confined space entry and hot work permits.
  • Perform as a Confined Space Monitor, if needed by maintenance actions.
  • Perform area safety inspections and tests on such equipment as fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, emergency lighting, safety showers and eyewashes, and ladders.
  • Inform Control Room Operator, Maintenance Department, and Area Leader of status of area operating equipment, and problems as discovered.
  • Provide shift relief support when necessary, for vacations and sick leave.
  • Perform routine operational inspections of area systems and equipment, and keep up operating logs and records.
  • Performs special assignments as directed by the Operation Manager and Water treatment Area Leader.
  • Prepares work requests for maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain the housekeeping of the work area at a very high level.
  • Must successfully pass certification requirements for a Boiler and Turbine Operator.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Team Leader.

Requirements:
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor degree in a technical, engineering field or equivalent experience preferred
  • Five years of plan operations experience is preferred with two years in the area of power generation.
  • Qualified in the operation of the Turbine and Boiler. Qualification in Water Treatment and Material Handling is a plus.
  • Indebt knowledge of integrated boiler and turbine operations
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Proven strong performance in previous roles.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Proven leadership and communications skills.
  • Works well with others in a team environment.
