Job description

As a Power System Operator, you're responsible for the safe operation of the distribution system and our Transmission system. This position identifies and initiates corrective action as needed in a timely manner to optimize operating conditions including service restoration procedures while working under minimal supervision.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the system is operated within established company loading and safety guidelines.
  • Assist in the direction of distribution service restoration procedures to restore service in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.
  • Assists in monitoring load and initiates communications to field for load abnormalities on facilities to ensure proper load flow and adequate voltage levels under direct supervision.
  • Maintains a daily log on all events occurring on the distribution system to assist in future operation of the system, developing a history to assist in planning and design of facilities, and complying with regulations.
  • Handels all Alarming aspects from related equipment and dispatches field team to minimize down time and production
  • Assists in the preparation of work clearances on distribution lines and substation equipment to assure safety to employees.
  • Participates and completes assigned training activities.
  • Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
  • Candidates with Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or greater in an electrically related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 4+ years of experience in a power distribution role or other related experience is required.
  • Candidates with Distribution Operations and/or Distribution field experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates with Craft Advancement Progression Skills (CAPS) or Distribution Lineman Training (DLT) certification are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with Aspen Tech Monarch Scada would be a plus
  • Possess strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise, and inclusive manner.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communications with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with the use of Microsoft Office products.
Work schedule: 12 Hour hitch Days & Nights - 14 days on/ 14 days off
