Work Location: Travel/Nationwide

Residency requirement: Based in the DFW area

Job Type: Full-time

SUMMARY:

The Field Service Department is responsible for technical and field support and communications between NGC US and its customers. The main focus will be building (and refining) a team to manage and support warranty claims for the wind gear drive business. Later, the scope may evolve to include warranty support for the industrial business. The Field Service Department plays an integral role in the organization by supporting all facets of the business.

EMPLOYEE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel and work uninterrupted work for 6 weeks at a time.
  • Understand and follow customary instructions to perform the essential functions of the position in a satisfactory manner.
  • Read, understand, and adhere to Company policies, safety protocol, SDS, operating procedures, work instructions, etc.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Climb and work a top freestanding wind turbines that exceed 300 feet in height multiple times in a day.
  • Perform wind turbine mechanical troubleshooting and repair. (main, pitch, and yaw gearboxes)
  • Assists with removal and installation of wind turbine mechanical components.
  • Have the ability and capacity to learn and retain troubleshooting and repair techniques.
  • Safely operate a passenger vehicle for up to 12 hrs. per day.
  • Keep an accurate inventory of safety equipment, tools, consumables, and parts assigned to your work vehicle.
  • Maintain the highest care for Company equipment, tools, and vehicles.
  • Report to and interface closely with the NGC Field Service Supervisor, Coordinator, Project Leader, and Admin.
  • Reporting -Daily, weekly, monthly, inspections, checklist, time entry.
  • Draft routine reports.
  • Work with minimal supervision, given proper instructions.
  • Provide on time high quality work results consistently.
  • Ability to adapt to any situation quickly.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risk quickly and effectively.
  • Highly energetic customer service focused team player.
  • Driven self-starter with proactive approach.
  • Works OT and weekends as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • The employee must be of sound body and mind.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, and particulate matter. The employee can be exposed to risks of electrical and mechanical hazards. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, or crawl; and talk or hear for long period of time.
  • The employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to perform an uptower to ground rescue in less than 4 minutes.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (hot and cold).
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and drug/alcohol screening.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate should have 1 year of relevant experience or 0 years with a related degree.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to obtain a passport.
  • Strong mechanical background (wind gearboxes).
  • Excellent communication skills (listening, speaking, oral and written).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Salesforce, iAuditor, and other office programs.

EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma required.
  • Knowledge in the Mechanical Trade is strongly preferred.
  • GE 1 - 4.X experience is a plus but not required.
  • GE LOTO Qualified is a plus but not required.
  • Bilingual (English-Mandarin) is a plus but not required.
