Working as a turbine mechanic, you install, maintain, and repair turbines. Your duties are to perform routine maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems; disassemble parts, inspect, and assemble after replacing old and malfunctioning parts; collect data of turbines; and inspect all components. Turbine mechanics climb towers and work in confined spaces, so it is not for the faint of heart. Your responsibilities include carrying tools and equipment with you while you climb, and documenting/reporting turbine conditions. Observations for most turbines occur via computer systems, and when a problem is detected, the turbine mechanic travels to the site to address the issue.
