JOB SUMMARY Tray Line Assistants are responsible for assembling patient trays and assisting in the dish room between meal periods. Tray Line Assistants are responsible for:

  • Reading printed tickets and ensuring the corresponding items are on the tray.
  • Understanding diets and following instructions related to diet or allergy information.
  • Filling bulk stock items, crates of milk, boxes of condiments, trays of food, and boxes of juice.
  • Assisting with cleaning dishes, washing carts, changing chemicals, and putting dishes away between meals.
  • Using an iPad to promote/demote trays through the tray monitor program and communicating with hosts when trays need delivered.
  • Ensuring quality food and compliance with diets when the checker is not present on the tray line.
  • Requires the use of abrasive chemicals and operation of heavy kitchen appliances/machinery.

Tray Line Assistants work on their feet for the majority of an 8 hour shift. They may be required to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, push and pull carts, lift and reach, lift and reach overhead, stand, walk, and twist repetitively throughout their shift. The Tray Line Assistant is required to fill a variety of stock ranging in weight from 5lbs to 50 lbs.

Tray Line Assistants are expected to provide a high level of satisfaction as it relates to the presentation and accuracy of patient orders. This position is directly responsible for preparing patient trays, stocking tray line area and maintaining a clean and sanitized work environment. The Tray Line Assistant is a highly visible representative of the Food and Nutrition Department and must exhibit all customer service standards as defined by the Food and Nutrition Department as well as those outlined and defined by Blessing Hospital mission and values.

Tray Line Assistants are required to have the following skills:

This position requires the ability to work many hours standing, reaching overhead, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying. This position will work in the dish room during times between meal periods.

This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Hospital. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values while supporting the strategic plan, goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Process (PIP) at Blessing Hospital.
