Job description

We have an opening for a Compactor Repair Shop Technician at our Hartford location. The Compactor Technician/Welder will assist with the day-to-day operations of maintaining compactors, such as troubleshooting hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and welding/fabricating. In addition to other associated skills for installing and maintaining industrial trash, recycling compactors, and other pieces of similar machinery.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the packer repair shop with power units, compactors, and road calls.
  • Performs compactor repairs and maintenance in the shop and in the field, including travel to off-site locations as required.
  • Test power units after the repair.
  • Perform maintenance on compactors brought back to the shop.
  • Assist the Weld Shop if needed.
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks such as holding parts, retrieving tools, preparing work areas, and helping with repairs.
  • Help with installations, dismantling, and assembly of compactor components.
  • Clean and lubricate parts to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Safely handle tools, equipment, and replacement parts as directed by the technician.
  • Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools and shop issues.
  • Follow all company safety protocols, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support in loading/unloading equipment and transporting parts or materials to job sites.
  • Document tasks completed and report any issues or hazards to the lead technician or supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Driver License.
  • Applicants should have a welding background and basic knowledge of electrical components.
  • Must be able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Applicants must be able to successfully pass a physical agility exam and pre-employment drug test.
  • Applicants must be able to lift up to 70lbs. and pull and push up to 70lbs.
