Job description

Janitorial Associate  Part & Full-Time Opportunities  Dierbergs Markets

Janitorial Associates keep our stores clean and running at the highest level.  They are independent and have a strong attention to detail which helps with their responsibilities:   

  • Perform a wide range of cleaning and general store maintenance functions in order to keep the store clean and presentable for customers  
  • Respond quickly to intercom requests for maintenance help and cleanups  
  • Ensure that both indoor and outdoor areas are presentable at all times  
  • Safely and efficiently operate general cleaning equipment such as a scrubber, buffer and trash compactor (must be at least 18 years of age to operate trash compactor)  
  • Monitor and clean aisles, offices, and restrooms using company approved cleaning supplies 
  • Performs minor repairs using hand tools and routine replacements, such as changing light bulbs 
  • Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following OSHA regulations 
  • Complete wet and dry cleanups 
  • Select proper cleaning solutions for various surfaces 
  • Hang banners and promotional items that require use of ladder 
  • Maneuver and tip trash cart  
Essentials  
  • At least 16 years of age  
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to safely use cleaning chemicals, requiring an understanding of chemical names and product labels 
  • The ability to install banners and promotional items requiring the use of a ladder 
  • Read basic information (ex: chemical names and product labels 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays 
  • Prompt and regular attendance based on your schedule 
  • Adherence to our dress code, appearance and personal hygiene standards 
  • Associates in food handling departments are required to receive a Hepatitis A vaccination (MO only)  
Physical Requirements  
  • Lifting & Carrying - Up to 50 lbs. occasionally 
  • Pushing & Pulling - Up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally 
  • Occasional - Sit, handling, crawling, climbing, overhead reach, & power grip
