Job description

Job Description:

Wastequip WRX Compactor Services division has an immediate opportunity for a Field Service Technician to support our Houston, TX service operation. Wastequip WRX provides compactor repair services, maintenance, installation, and compactor rebuilding. The ideal candidate will travel to customers' sites for service/warranty repair, installations, and preventative maintenance. Work may also be performed onsite at our facility.

Hourly Pay Range: $30.00- $33.00: Will pay more with Trash Compactor experience.

Shift Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00a.m - 5:30p.m (On call weekend rotation)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on commercial trash compactors, balers, and other hydraulic and electrical equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Utilize basic welding and fabrication skills to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and complying with company and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with customers and the service team.
  • Provide training and support to junior technicians as needed.
  • Travel throughout the service area in a company-supplied service truck for on-site repairs and maintenance, with minimal overnight travel.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working on commercial trash compactors, balers, or similar hydraulic and electrical equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work on a variety of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Basic welding skills.
  • Basic fabrication skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Previous experience managing people is preferred, as this position may grow into a leadership role.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred but not required.
  • Forklift certification is preferred but not required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required.
