Job description

We are seeking an experienced Transportation Contract Pricing Manager to lead carrier contract negotiations, capacity planning, and pricing strategy for our transportation network. This role is critical to optimizing our carrier relationships, ensuring competitive pricing, and maintaining service excellence across our logistics operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Capacity Management & Carrier Relations
  • Identify and qualify additional transportation capacity by collaborating with Operations and Carrier Management teams to assess current and future needs
  • Build and maintain strategic carrier partnerships to support business growth and operational demands

Contract Negotiation & Pricing Strategy
  • Review, revise, and negotiate carrier, brokerage, and shipper contracts in accordance with company policy
  • Evaluate bids from transportation providers, analyzing geography, pricing structures, empty miles, and overall value proposition
  • Process and manage Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to ensure competitive market rates
  • Determine bid feasibility and recommend pursuit of opportunities that align with business objectives

Performance Management & Analysis
  • Monitor and review shipper performance against contractual expectations with Operations management
  • Conduct regular performance audits to identify improvement opportunities and ensure compliance with service level agreements

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with the Legal department on contract development, revisions, and other legal matters
  • Work closely with Operations, Finance, and Carrier Management to align pricing strategy with business goals

Team Leadership & Development
  • Make employment decisions and recommendations including hiring, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, and compensation adjustments
  • Coordinate and manage team workflows, directing members to achieve departmental objectives
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures
  • Manage employee performance through coaching, mentoring, and administering performance reviews
  • Recommend, plan, and implement training and skill development programs
  • Maintain accurate time-keeping and attendance records for team members
  • Facilitate employee growth through weekly team meetings, one-on-one sessions, and company learning opportunities

Resource Optimization
  • Manage resources effectively to optimize equipment, facilities, personnel, methods, and materials
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department

Secondary Responsibilities

Qualifications
Education
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent work experience

Experience
  • Required: 5+ years of experience in transportation pricing and contract management
