Description
The Transportation Manager provides leadership, management, direction and administrative oversight for all Transportation Operations. This is a departmental manager position within TSV, Inc. The Transportation Manager is directly responsible to ensure the overall success of the Transportation Department associated with the following: accountability for daily operations; future planning; strategizing transportation improvements; guest and employee satisfaction, safety and performance; staff development; financial results which include expense and labor management in accordance with budget requirements; and compliance with all governmental regulations.
This job description is intended to be a broad description of duties. You will be asked to carry out all responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Essential Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for the effective leadership, management and coordination of all transportation operations of Taos Ski Valley, Inc. including regular airport shuttles, employee buses from a centralized lot, and on-call charter operations.
  • Oversees the management and administration of all transportation operations and is responsible to produce an exceptional guest and employee experience.
  • Creates weekly transportation schedules in a timely manner, to include staff shuttles, Taos Air shuttle service and other schedules as needed.
  • Manages the communication of compensation policy, safety, departmental operating procedures and policies, guest relations, and risk-awareness education.
  • Ability to communicate, coordinate and negotiate professionally with government agencies including PRC, DOT and RTD, promoting a positive relationship between Taos and Taos Ski Valley as well as holding a vision for increased transportation access and growth for Taos Ski Valley transportation programs.
  • Develops and maintains company policies and procedures regarding guidelines established by regulatory agencies and best practices in the resort transportation industry.
  • Develops and maintains accountability for budgets, goals and objectives to improve the performance of each operation. Creatively drives revenues and demonstrates fiscal responsibility in controlling departmental costs.
  • Promotes a team effort and guides supervisors of the departments to the most effective utilization of time, labor, resources, and skills to provide our guests and employees with consistent and reliable service.
  • Provides clear expectations of team-member responsibilities.
  • Actively participates and engages in the Operation.
  • Works closely with the Director of Lodging and Transportation and others to outline and accomplish goals set forth herein.
  • Calls, attends and actively participates in all operational meetings and required company functions.
  • Effectively communicates information to all Operations staff to ensure the proper distribution of resort activities and general information.
  • Oversees and participates in the hiring and training for all employees to ensure the development of a professional team.
  • Evaluates performance of all staff members regularly, including disciplinary action as needed and implements staff development programs.
  • Completes proper paperwork and reporting as required by operations, human resources and legal regulations are done in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensures vehicles are being maintained and operated in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations New Mexico state laws.
  • Ensures equipment used in departments is operational and properly maintained.
  • Ensures necessary inventory is being ordered and stocked with the necessary supplies to maintain equipment.
  • Ensures drivers are compliant with the New Mexico state law and properly licensed and certified for operating commercial vehicles.
  • Handles all employee and guest concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with vendors and sponsors associated with the company.
  • Strong personal character and commitment to Taos Ski Valley, Inc.
  • Is the liaison with the PRC regarding transportation operations and Regulatory Permits.
  • Remains knowledgeable of community public transportation programs and issues that affect our guests and employees and works with The Transportation Director to recommend strategies and solutions that will benefit our guests, employees, the company and community overall.

Work Environment:
Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holiday and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.
Physical Demands of Position Include:
Position requires approximately 40-50% of sitting, standing and walking. Will require approximately 30% of driving (local driving as well as high-way driving) May include climbing, pushing, balancing, kneeling, etc. May require occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions.

Positions dealing with children, of safety-sensitive and/or confidential nature, require driving or positions that handle cash may require a background check and MVR check. Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check and MVR check.
