National Transportation Manager

Role Summary: The National Transportation Manager (NTM) leads and directs TireHub’s transportation capability across a network of regional distribution centers throughout North America.  This role sits at the center of TireHub’s hub-and-spoke supply model, where TireHub drives daily replenishment to our forward-deployed, final mile operations. The NTM is accountable for safe, timely, and cost-effective movement of products across the network, which serves as the critical lifeline of supply for our customer-facing locations.

This leadership position requires a proven track record of building and managing a world-class transportation capability in a fast-paced, high-volume distribution environment.  

This role reports to the Distribution Network Optimization Director.

Role Specifics:

Network & Daily Operations

  • Leads hub-to-spoke daily operations in coordination with Regional Distribution Center (RDC) leaders, meeting all inbound, outbound, and customer service requirements across the network.
  • Manages scheduling of all freight modes including LTL, truckload, and inbound ocean container imports.
  • Minimizes demurrage and port-related costs through disciplined inbound receipt management.
  • Establishes customer-direct shipments using the optimal transportation mode, balancing service expectations with cost targets.

Partner & Vendor Management

  • Owns all 3PL and carrier relationships, including KPI development, ongoing performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Leads monthly business reviews with all logistics partners.
  • Drives carrier procurement and make recommendations that optimize service quality within a competitive cost structure.

Financial & Strategic Leadership

  • Develops and manages RDC outbound transportation budgets and delivery expense.
  • Analyzes network data to identify and act on opportunities to improve service and reduce cost.
  • Reports to senior leadership on the operational, budgetary, and strategic transportation performance.
  • Plays a key role in the development and expansion of TireHub’s RDC transportation operations across North America.

People Leadership

  • Leads and directs a geographically dispersed team of Transportation Specialists.
  • Champions cross-functional process improvements to streamline transportation and overall distribution operations.

Education/Experience:

  • BS/BA in Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 10+ years leading the transportation operations for high-volume, fast-paced, national distributor operating a hub-spoke model.
  • Prior experience implementing and deploying a Transportation Management System (TMS) is required.
  • Demonstrated success developing and managing transportation budgets with measurable cost outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience with 3PL contract management, carrier RFPs, and freight procurement.
  • Import logistics experience, including ocean freight scheduling and port/demurrage management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Data-driven analyst comfortable working across TMS platforms and reporting tools to drive decisions.
  • Effective communicator and influencer across all organizational levels, from operations to the executive team.
  • Proven ability to lead remote teams, manage competing priorities, and operate decisively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter who delivers results consistently without close supervision.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and delivery expenses at scale.
  • Strong business and budget management acumen.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a fast-paced and dynamic operating environment.
  • Majority of time is spent sitting, constantly viewing monitors in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move around. There may be occasions to move or lift light articles.
  • Occasional extended hours may be required during peak periods (month-end close and audits).
  • This role is based in our headquarters office in Dunwoody, GA and requires a strong in-person presence.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 40%.
