Vice President of Installation

At Lumin8 Transportation Technologies, we are focused on the full range of Smart Infrastructure Services for the transportation industry. We design, construct, install, integrate, operate, monitor and maintain a wide variety of Transportation Infrastructure Assets/Technologies for our customers and our communities.

Reporting to the Regional President, The VP of Installation is responsible for translating the company’s strategic growth plans into actionable and defined operational plans for the assigned region in support of Corporate and Regional short- and long-term goals and objectives. The VP of Installation is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of the Installation team to include safety, quality, efficiency, profitability, project execution, materials, equipment utilization, manpower, adherence to established process and procedure, process improvement, profitability and overall business results for the Installation team. The VP of Installation also plays a key leadership role in driving process discipline, field execution consistency, and financial performance improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervising, managing, inspiring and leading a mix of direct and matrixed in a way that is consistent with the Company’s culture and values.
  • Manages and oversees performance-related actions for employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
  • Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided.
  • Complete annual performance reviews for direct reports, construction staff planning & budgeting, employee hiring, onboarding & termination.
Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for safety results of all Installation team members. Monitors and addresses gaps in safety compliance with team members and in-house resources to ensure all Company, customer and regulatory requirements are adhered to.
  • Accountable for financial success of all Installation efforts through the efficient, quality install of customer projects to include accurate and timely job costing, daily/weekly reporting, financial tracking, and gross margin achievement.
  • Lead the implementation of daily unit reporting across all installation crews to establish an earned value framework using both physical work completed and percent-of-completion (POC) methods. Ensure this data is accurately captured and used for performance tracking and forecasting.
  • Works closely with the Regional President in developing both short- and long-term objectives to drive regional performance, business opportunities and expansion of product offerings.
  • Own the rollout and enforcement of the Lumin8 Project Playbook. Ensure all field and office personnel understand, adopt, and consistently follow defined project management processes. Drive accountability for compliance with established SOPs.
  • Maximize utilization of labor, equipment, and material resources to increase revenue and project-level profitability. Identify underused assets and implement plans to improve deployment across regions.
  • Accountable for improving cash flow within the Installation service line through better billing practices, tighter schedule adherence, faster closeout procedures, and active management of change orders and collections.
  • Responsible for applying effective leadership techniques to the planning, design and installation phases of projects from inception to completion for the purpose of controlling cost, time and re-work.
  • Ensure proactive cost management strategies and continual communication with leadership regarding cost risks and opportunities.
  • Oversee and guide all pre, during and post installation activities to maximize profitability, competitiveness, and accuracy in accordance with established process and procedure and regulatory requirements.
  • Review contracts and collaborate with teammates to negotiate contract terms, mitigate risks and profitability.
  • Oversee the end-to-end operations of installation from estimating handoff to final acceptance on all company projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Mindset of “safety first” with a firm grasp on programs/policy that drive success in this area.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect field performance to financial outcomes, including revenue recognition, earned value, and cash flow.
  • Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business and finance.
  • Prior business development experience as a leader within a high growth, construction installation type organization.
  • Proven track record of identifying and developing talent.
  • Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Excellent time management, decision making, human relations, presentation, and organization skills with employees, customers and key constituents.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with business software and systems to include Microsoft Office Suite, ERP/MRP systems, quoting/estimating systems, and planning software.
  • History and ability to clearly define goals and objectives and turn them into actionable plans to drive accountability and results for the team.
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management and 5 or more years related experience leading Regional transportations projects and activities or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the construction/installation industry including estimating, contracts, materials, equipment, project scheduling and financial analysis required.
  • Knowledge of the ITS and/or Traffic Signal construction/installation industries highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background including MVR.
