As the Director of Transportation Advisory, you will be accountable for the end-to-end delivery, quality, and growth of our Transportation Advisory service offering. This role leads complex client engagements focused on transportation optimization, network design, carrier strategy, and logistics cost-to-serve, while also building the team, tools, and methodologies that underpin the practice.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role that blends client delivery, commercial leadership, and practice building.

Responsibilities:

Client Delivery & Technical Leadership

  • Own delivery of all Transportation & Network Advisory engagements, including: Distribution and transportation network design, Carrier sourcing, RFPs, and bid management, Transportation cost-to-serve and service-level modelling, Network rationalization, consolidation, and growth scenarios, TMS/WMS requirements definition and implementation support
  • Ensure projects are analytically rigorous, financially sound, and operationally realistic.
  • Serve as the senior subject-matter expert for transportation economics, routing, carrier strategy, and network trade-offs.
  • Provide executive-level storytelling and decision support to client leadership teams.

Practice & Methodology Ownership

  • Define, maintain, and continuously improve the Transportation & Network Strategy methodology, including: Network modelling approaches, Transportation cost and service frameworks, Carrier strategy and bid playbooks, Sustainability and carbon modelling approaches
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and scalability across all engagements.
  • Drive the adoption of advanced analytics, modelling tools, and dashboards.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead and grow a team of transportation and network consultants and analysts.
  • Set performance expectations, coach project leaders, and develop future subject-matter experts.
  • Build a culture of accountability, analytical excellence, and client obsession.
  • Identify hiring needs and help recruit top talent into the practice.

Commercial & Client Leadership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders across supply chain, operations, finance, and logistics.
  • Lead proposal development, scoping, and pricing for transportation advisory services.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and cross-sell into adjacent supply-chain services.
  • Support marketing, thought leadership, and industry presence for the practice.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Own the financial performance of the Transportation Advisory service area, including revenue, margin, and utilization.
  • Forecast demand, manage staffing plans, and ensure profitable delivery.
  • Track KPIs such as project margin, client satisfaction, win rate, and practice growth.

Within 12-18 months, you will have:

  • Built a repeatable, scalable Transportation Advisory service offering with clear methodologies and tools
  • Developed a strong bench of consultants who can independently run engagements
  • Become the go-to leader for complex transportation and network decisions
  • Grown a profitable, in-demand practice with long-term client relationships

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience in supply chain, logistics, or management consulting
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
  • Proficiency in TMS, ERP, data analytics, and project management tools.
  • Strategic thinking, analytical skills, strong communication, negotiation, and leadership.
  • Deep expertise in transportation strategy, network design, and logistics economics
  • Proven track record delivering complex, multi-stakeholder consulting projects
  • Experience leading teams and managing P&L or practice-level financials
  • Strong executive communication and client-facing skills
