Job description

This is a high-visibility leadership role for someone who wants to own a function, not manage a process.

About the Fleet

The fleet is large several thousand units spanning multiple vehicle types supporting field operators across the country. This is not a corporate car program or a sales fleet.

What You'll Own

The organization is mid-transformation. There are several active, high-priority initiatives this person will step directly into:

  • A telematics and camera rollout across the full fleet, currently in progress and in need of stronger execution and accountability. This person owns that accountability — with internal operational leaders and with external installation partners.
  • A fleet management company contract coming up for renewal that needs a full RFP and a make-vs-buy analysis. The outcome of that process will shape how fleet operations are structured for the next several years.
  • A vehicle lifecycle governance program that needs to be built from the ground up — standardized policies, allocation criteria, and lease-end discipline across a decentralized organization that has historically made those decisions inconsistently.
  • A standing SME seat at the table when the business pursues new clients. Field operations moves fast, and this person has to be ready to tell them exactly what vehicles cost, how long it takes, and what needs to be baked into pricing.

What Will Make You Successful

The leadership environment here is direct and accountability-driven. Senior executives expect command of information, visible ownership of outcomes, and the confidence to present clearly in high-stakes settings. Someone who is easily rattled or who leads with hedging won't land well in this culture.

You'll also need real credibility with field operators. These are people who know their business cold, move fast, and don't have patience for someone who can't speak their language.
