Job description

Trinity Rail is searching for a talented team player to fill the open position of Transportation Coordinator in our Dallas, TX office! We welcome your ideas and your outstanding work ethic. Join our team today and be a part of Helping to Build America. ™ In this role, the Transportation Coordinator is an individual contributor that will support daily freight operations by scheduling shipments, coordinating with vendors and third-party carriers, thus ensuring on-time, cost-effective transportation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced supply-chain environment and enjoys problem-solving, communication, and logistics planning. The position will work under the general supervision of the Senior Transportation Manager and play an important part in ensuring efficient planning and management of shipments.
What You'll Do:
  • Communicate with suppliers, and internal teams to coordinate pickup and delivery requirements
  • Coordinate daily shipments with carriers and brokers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries, serving as the main point of contact
  • Book transportation capacity based on service requirements, cost, and availability
  • Track and monitor shipments, providing proactive updates to internal teams as needed
  • Maintain timely and accurate data in the TMS including commodity, carrier assignments, shipment status, and cost details
  • Validate transportation documents including BOLs, PODs, and shipping instructions upon completion
  • Resolve transportation issues such as delays, accessorials, reconsignments, or service failures
  • Ensure carrier compliance with contractual requirements
  • Analyze freight spend and carrier performance to support cost-saving and service-improvement initiatives
  • Support continuous improvement projects to streamline transportation workflows and enhance efficiency
  • Always conduct himself/herself in a professional manner when representing Trinity Rail (this demeanor extends to written correspondence and verbal conversations including in person or over the phone)
  • Other duties and tasks assigned

Qualifications
What You'll Have:
  • 2+ years of Transportation or Logistics experience (non-asset brokerage or 3PL preferred)
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience using TMS or ERP systems
  • Ability to multitask and manage time/tasks in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel for reporting and data entry
  • Understanding of shipping modes (FTL, LTL, Parcel)
  • Flexibility to answer calls after hours and on weekends as needed
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus
