Job description

THE POSITION As a Transportation Planning Manager for the Department of Transportation, you play a key role in advancing major transportation and environmental programs. This position gives you the opportunity to guide teams, work with partner agencies and lead important statewide initiatives. Your leadership helps ensure that transportation plans meet federal requirements and support cleaner, safer communities.

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys managing complex programs and collaborating with others. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position leads programs related to air quality, federal initiatives and major statewide transportation planning efforts. As a Transportation Planning Manager, you will perform the following duties: Air Quality Guidance: Provide direction on air quality and federal initiatives to internal divisions and partner agencies Program Management: Oversee conformity updates, state implementation planning and emissions modeling efforts Federal Coordination: Work with federal, state and regional agencies to support transportation and environmental policies Funding Oversight: Direct federal programs such as CMAQ, Carbon Reduction and Transportation Alternatives Resiliency Leadership: Support statewide resiliency planning including federal PROTECT program efforts Training Coordination: Manage transportation and air quality training activities for staff and partner groups Interested in learning more.

Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS).

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Transportation Planning Specialist Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of experience as a Transportation Planning Specialist 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Three years of professional transportation planning, transportation administration, or transportation engineering experience, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
