Food Service Manager
Working in the Darlington County SC Detention Center
A correctional food service manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food service operations within a correctional facility, ensuring efficient and safe food production and service for inmates and staff. This role combines food service management expertise with an understanding of the unique environment of a correctional facility, including security protocols, and working with an incarcerated population.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Food Production and Service:
Supervising the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals, ensuring they meet nutritional standards and dietary requirements, including therapeutic and religious diets.
  • Staff and Inmate Management:
Training, supervising, and scheduling food service staff and inmates assigned to the kitchen, enforcing work rules, and maintaining discipline.
  • Inventory Management:
Monitoring food and supply levels, placing orders, and ensuring proper storage and rotation to minimize waste.
  • Sanitation and Safety:
