Job Description

The Commercial Training & Development Specialist is responsible for leading sales training and development activities pertaining to sales enablement e.g. product training and Korn Ferry/Miller Heiman (Strategic Selling with Perspective, LAM, etc.). Additionally, this role will support developing, updating, planning, and measuring the effectiveness of training and development programs within the Commercial organization. In coordination with commercial and marketing leadership, this role will be responsible for annual sales meetings, and ongoing educational opportunities; both in-person and virtually. Other responsibilities will include supporting the development planning process and creating sales tools while regularly consulting with the commercial team to identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function below satisfactorily.ย 

Essential Functions:ย 

  • Plans, coordinates, and facilitates Train-the-Trainer sessions as needed and directed by management specifically focused on Korn Ferry/Miller Heiman Strategic Selling with Perspective and LAMP (will provide certifications if not already obtained)
  • Coordinates classroom logistics and virtual training for sales meetings, product updates/information, and on-going educational opportunities
  • Supports the design and development of curriculum and content for E-Learning, virtual training, and in-person delivery
  • Administers/maintains commercial Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Develops training and communications around Salesforce usage and feature updates.
  • Partners with Sales and Marketing leadership to assess training needs, develop an implementation plan, and create, lead, and facilitate learning/training initiatives
  • Maintains a global mindset to adapt training and deliverables based on geographically inspired learning differences
  • Measures and tracks sales competencies, knowledge level and role satisfaction
  • Utilizes project management techniques to track and implement deliverables such as project milestones, scope, goals, deliverables, resources, timing, etc.
  • Administers needs assessments across the commercial team using a variety of sources, such as employee feedback, performance data, and assessment tools to identify gaps in training, skills, and performance
  • In collaboration with Commercial Operations and Sales Leadership, set performance metrics for development programs, continually measuring performance and reporting out on findings

Other Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills including public speaking, facilitation, and delivery of training and learning
  • Understanding of adult learning theories; needs assessment; performance consulting
  • Knowledge of Life Science and/or Biotechnology industry desired
  • Ability to understand products and technical data and workflow instructions
  • Ability to work and deliver in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to work autonomously with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to effectively work on many priorities at one time, which change frequently
  • Must demonstrate good professional judgment and reliability
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships at all levels within the organization
  • Demonstrated leadership beyond minimum job responsibilities

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:ย 

  • Korn Ferry/Miller Heiman Certification preferred
  • BA/BS in Training, Instructional Design, E-Learning, other Learning disciplines, or related field preferred
  • 3 years of sales training experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background
  • 3+ years hands-on experiences with using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointย 
  • High detail orientation and expectation for quality
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in Learning Management Systems
  • Experience with virtual meeting tools such as GoToMeeting or Skype
  • Certification or proficiency in Salesforce CRM

Technology/Equipment Skills:

  • Salesforce CRM knowledge and practical use
  • Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Use of a web browsers
