Job description

Job Description:
Farm Credit of Central Florida, a leading agribusiness lender, is seeking a Registered Trainee Appraiser (or above) who aspires to become a State-Certified General Appraiser to join our team. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience with real estate land values, land use regulations, and crop values.
Essential Functions:
  • Assist collateral evaluation staff by inspecting, completing, and reviewing internal collateral evaluations.
  • Engages and reviews narrative and residential appraisals provided by 3rd party appraisers.
  • Reviews preliminary title and/or survey report and determines if the legal description is correct and describes the property accurately.
  • Communicate errors on third party reports and follow through by having them revised.
  • Maintains borrower files utilizing Association software programs.
  • Supports credit and lending staff in evaluating the quality, risks, marketability, and value of collate ral that has been or may be pledged to the Association.
  • Assists the Special Assets Department with management of acquired property
  • Assist with training non-licensed appraisal staff.
Education Requirements:
  • Trainee Appraiser License (or above) registered in the State of Florida preferred, with the aspiration to work and obtain a State-Certified General Appraisal License.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, agriculture, forestry, real estate or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of appraisal experience.
Required Skills:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all appraisal related functions including but not limited to application of appraisal methodologies, appraisal standards, appraisal development, research and verification techniques, highest and best use determination, and USPAP compliance.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in understanding the residential appraisal process and knowledge of the appropriate uniform forms, rules, and regulations concerning residential appraisal for loans in house and on the secondary mortgage market.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing and/or reviewing residential and narrative appraisals on a wide variety of property types.
  • Technical competencies and professional qualities necessary to effectively engage, review, evaluate, and execute all aspects of the appraisal process.
  • Strong communication (oral and written) skills sufficient to exchange information with peers, supervisor and borrower/members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Skill in analyzing complex technical data by using logic and quantitative reasoning.
  • Skill in reading, drawing, and understanding legal descriptions.
  • Working knowledge of Central Florida geography, farm types, and commodity operations.
  • Working knowledge of typical crops and land uses, equ ipment types/uses, building types/uses, livestock, and yield potential.
  • Working knowledge of useful, pertinent, and relevant computer software applications.
  • Must adhere to the Associations Mission and Core Values
Additional Details:
The preferred location for this position is Lakeland, FL, however, location flexibility may be possible.
