Our Active Trader Branch is part of the broader branch network within the Investor Services organization. We have a unique opportunity to assist clients nationwide in a virtual setting.  We cater to clients who are highly engaged in self-directing all or a portion of their investable assets as part of their wealth management strategy.   

These clients must prefer to conduct business over the phone or through video conferencing.  Our primary responsibility is to help individuals and families with their financial needs including investing tools and services, trading strategy or education, risk management, retirement planning, charitable giving, estate planning, active investing or managing banking and lending needs. The VP, Active Trader Financial Consultant will actively grow an affluent wealth management practice and work with clients to find appropriate solution strategies and services to deepen relationships. Financial Consultants will develop and execute a business plan to generate new clients. The Financial Consultants help the firm grow by consolidating additional assets and are responsible for providing investment strategies, trading tools, and planning-based wealth management. 

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Practice a consultative, goal-based wealth management approach to best assess and find appropriate solutions to meet client’s needs. 
  • Utilize expertise and knowledge of the securities industry and markets to analyze and interpret client’s investment objectives and provide investment advice and coaching on trading suited to meet their needs.
  • Increase branch/brand awareness by soliciting referrals and leveraging relationships with centers of influence.
  • Execute a consistent client relationship management process that delights clients, drives referrals, and retains clients at Schwab for life.
  • Engage with clients to inspire a level of trust that increases retention, client promoter scores and positive feedback
  • Use existing relationship resources (i.e. planning tools, etc.) to deepen and retain client relationships.
  • Build relationships with key business partners and connect with others across the firm to boost results and provide the best client experience.  
  • Maintain knowledge of markets and trading, as well as systems, resources and products offered by and traded by the firm.
  • Understand and apply the trader value proposition in an individualized manner to demonstrate the unique benefits to each client.
What you have

To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work-related experience 
  • A valid and active Series 7 license is required
  • A valid and active Series 66 (63/65) license is required (may be obtained within a 90-day condition of employment)
  • A valid and active Life and Health Insurance license is required (may be obtained within a 120-day condition of employment)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A valid and active Series 3 license is preferred
  • Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) certification is preferred
  • Ability to lead sophisticated conversations with clients around trading platforms, risk, trading strategy, and education.
  • Strong industry, trading, and market knowledge
  • Excellent consultative, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • A minimum of four years’ financial services experience working with retail clients, with proven success in providing advice and consultation, and in managing, developing, and expanding client relationships
