Job description

SUMMARY:  The International Trade Finance Relationship Officer is responsible for ensuring that all new and existing client relationships within the International Trade Finance Department receive a consistent level of quality service. The Relationship Officer requests all documentation critical to the client onboarding process and provides ongoing file-maintenance review in accordance with the International Trade Finance Credit Policy and the Procedures Manual. The Relationship Officer contributes to the overall client relationship through the timely processing of transactions, including funding requests, collection management, and payment receipts. The Relationship Officer maintains all International Trade Finance ledgers, including but not limited to the Sales Roll-Forward, Workbook, Aging Detail, and Management Reports, and ensures that all documents in the relationship file are current and up to date.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for all new and existing International Trade Finance client relationships, ensuring that each relationship receives a consistent level of quality service and that inquiries and requests are addressed accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Request, collect, and track all documentation critical to the client onboarding process, including corporate, financial, KYC/CIP, insurance, and trade-related documentation; confirm completeness and accuracy before the file is submitted for review or approval.
  • Provide ongoing file-maintenance review in accordance with the International Trade Finance Credit Policy and the Procedures Manual; ensure that all documents in the relationship file — including financial statements, corporate resolutions, licenses, insurance certificates, security agreements, and lien filings — are current and up to date, and follow up on items approaching expiration or already expired.
  • Process International Trade Finance transactions on a timely and accurate basis, including funding requests, collection management, and payment receipts; verify that required supporting documentation is in place before processing and that entries are properly recorded.
  • Maintain all International Trade Finance ledgers, including but not limited to the Sales Roll-Forward, Workbook, Aging Detail, and Management Reports; ensure ledgers are reconciled, accurate, and distributed in accordance with established reporting schedules.
  • Monitor aging, past-due balances, and outstanding documentation items; identify discrepancies, documentation deficiencies, and policy exceptions, and escalate them promptly to the Relationship Manager and, where applicable, to Credit Administration.
  • Coordinate with Credit Administration, Operations, and Compliance in support of onboarding, annual reviews, renewals, and ongoing relationship servicing.
  • Maintain complete and orderly records in support of internal and external audits and regulatory examinations, and provide requested documentation on a timely basis.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, International Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered. Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in International Trade Finance, commercial lending support, factoring, or client relationship servicing within a banking environment. Demonstrated experience with credit and trade documentation, client onboarding, and ongoing file maintenance. Fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) is required, given the International Trade Finance LATAM & Caribbean exporter-seller and importer-debtor relationships. International trade finance and LATAM & Caribbean market experience strongly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and relevant credit/banking systems.

All candidates for hire will undergo a credit and criminal background check. Only qualified candidates will be contacted.
