The Difference You Make:

The GTB Trade Finance Origination Associate serves as an SME responsible for origination support of trade and working capital transactions with US borrowers. They manage the transactions from origination through execution.

This role will identify opportunities and successfully sell innovativesolutions to American clients across the natural resources/utilities/commodities industry. The associate will also work together with Relationship Managers to provide Trade & Working Capital Solutions

Act as advisor, consultant, and first point of contact forclients' ongoing trade finance needs. Manage client journey from sales through implementation, and act as escalation point ofcontact. Adherence to internal processes to ensure control and transparency over salesactivity
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Market GTB trade products (Receivables, SCF, Structured Trade, Letters of Credit, EAF, etc.) to potential Santander clients in the natural resources/utilities/commodities space, proactively looking for new business opportunities covering domestic or cross-border trade, with or without recourse and under a portfolio or name-by-name approach.
  • Preparation of commercial plans,pitchesand RFIsdesigned to target C Suite level interaction through:Analysis of client's financial strategy and their financial reports and compare them with their peers in the relevant sector, as well as presenting how the Santander trade products can support the client for it to achieve itsstrategicgoals
  • Provide pricing / market intelligence to transactions, ensuring transaction profitability in line with the Bank's capital models presenting to the relevant committees, where applicable.
  • Reporting to senior management regarding the progress of the commercial agenda
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of key trends across our core sectors and potential application of our working capitalproducts
  • Contribute tothe creation and future development of the product proposition through regular sharing of client feedback.
  • Coordinate stakeholders both internal (CDD, Compliance, Risks,Legal,IT, Compliance,Operations, etc.)and external (Legal firms, Insurers, brokers, etc.) to provide a best-in-class service and seamless end to end execution including client onboarding and due diligences process
  • Ensure understanding of the Bank's operating practices and governance and ensure these are followed in line with the guidelines.

Education:

Qualifications:

Must possess experience working with sub-investment grade clients in the American market.

6+ years of relevant experience.

Exposure to the natural resources/utilities/commodities sectors and/or Financial Sponsors is a plus.

High motivation, proactivity, and accomplished business origination skills.

Significant financial knowledge (Working capital cycle, cash flow forecasting, financial statement analysis,modellingetc.).

High level of presentation and organizational skills.

Understanding of mechanics, drivers and risks associated with Tradeproducts.

Understanding the competitive market and the role of technology within Trade finance.

Capability to develop relationships inside the organization to collaborate across geographical boundaries.

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
