Inside the Role

The Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) International Trade Compliance Specialist will be responsible for supporting various Free Trade Agreement and other trade programs activities across DTNA businesses and geographies including USMCA, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification, customs compliance, import/export compliance, country of origin determinations, recordkeeping, post-entry audits, and supplier certification management. This role supports all departments involved in international business transactions to maintain compliance with trade programs laws and regulations. This position must be performed with minimal supervision.
Dimensions: Responsible for timely and accurate processing of all trade program requests, transactions, customer requests for related activities and system updates monitoring functions. Reports directly to the Trade Programs Manager.

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Oversight of trade program compliance activities across all Daimler Truck North America businesses

  • Assist the Trade Programs Team with various matters to ensure reasonable care standards for imported and exported products are maintained

  • Maintain and manage all records for Trade Programs transactions including claims & qualification, updating of policies and procedures to adhere to changing regulations in addition to support of continuous improvement of trade programs.

  • Assist with vendor management issues as they relate to Trade Programs

  • Review the use of an available trade program and determine its applicability to DTNA products

  • First responder to trade program inquiries from DTNA internal and external customers and liaison support of Trade Programs Manager for government agencies inquiries

  • Develop Trade Program compliance forms, tools, templates and performance reports

  • Assist with Trade Program compliance reviews and audits. Conducts post-entry audits of import entries where trade programs are utilized

  • Research Trade Program laws and regulations

  • Responsible for all Trade Program record keeping; administer trade program certificates by coordinating requests, issuance, recordkeeping, and customer support while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Validates Trade Programs eligibility determinations including qualification worksheets compiling appropriate backup documentation per record keeping requirements

  • Oversight of internal and external customer requests for free trade certificates received and issued.

  • Assists the Trade Programs Manager with internal trade programs audits, initiatives and vendor management.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Two years of experience in Trade Compliance, Customs Compliance, Import/Export Compliance, USMCA administration, Free Trade Agreements (FTA), Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), Customs Brokerage, or related international trade functions

  • Experience with DTNA or Detroit Diesel products, components, systems, supplier relationships, purchasing processes, product structures, bills of material, or comparable experience within the commercial vehicle, manufacturing, or related industries may substitute year for year in lieu of trade compliance experience.

  • Proven ability to deliver results in a matrixed environment

  • Comfortable in dealing with laws and regulations across different countries

  • An attached resume is required

Exceptional Candidate Might Have

  • Fluency in Spanish

  • Knowledge of Detroit Diesel Products

  • Ability to influence and drive change in a cross-functional team environment

  • Prepares & analyzes historical data with respect to trends, metrics and dashboards
