Moonbug is part of Candle Media, an independent, creator-friendly home for cutting-edge, high-quality, category-defining brands and franchises.

This is a full time role in our New York office.

The Role
As the Sales Director, Toys within Brand Partnerships, you will own and grow Moonbugโ€™s advertising revenue across the toy industry. Youโ€™ll leverage senior client-direct relationships to drive new business, expand existing partnerships, and close high-value, multi-platform deals.

You will lead the sales strategy for the category, shaping how we position Moonbugโ€™s IP, platforms, and global audience to toy marketers while personally driving conversations from pitch through close. This role is great for a seller who thrives on owning a category, building pipeline, and delivering results.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and exceed sales revenue targets within the Toy category, owning category performance end to end.
  • Serve as the Toy Category Lead, responsible for shaping the go-to-market narrative and positioning Moonbug as a must-buy partner for toy manufacturers and brands.
  • Build, manage, and grow a strategic account list focused primarily on senior client-direct relationships within the Toy industry, with agency relationships serving as secondary support where applicable.
  • Leverage existing C-level and senior marketing relationships within toy companies to unlock new revenue opportunities and deepen strategic partnerships.
  • Develop and execute a category-specific sales strategy that identifies short- and long-term growth opportunities and builds a sustainable pipeline.
  • Craft compelling category narratives and strategic frameworks that translate Moonbugโ€™s IP, audience scale, and platform capabilities into meaningful solutions for Toy partners.
  • Lead high-level client conversations, from initial outreach through deal structuring and long-term partnership development.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with client success, media and ad ops, data, creative, social, marketing, and finance to ensure programs are positioned and executed for success.
  • Act as the internal voice of the Toy category, educating cross-functional teams on industry trends, competitive dynamics, retail cycles, and partner priorities.
  • Stay deeply informed on Toy industry trends, retail calendars, licensing cycles, and emerging opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in digital advertising, media sales, or strategic partnerships, with significant experience owning or leading the Toy category.
  • Demonstrated senior-level relationships within Toy companies, with a proven track record of driving revenue through direct client engagement.
  • Experience building category strategy, shaping go-to-market narratives, and positioning media or content platforms within a specific vertical.
  • Deep understanding of the digital media landscape, including video publishers, YouTube ecosystems, branded content, retail media, and measurement.
  • Ability to operate as both a strategic category leader and a hands-on seller.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate complex organizations.
  • Proven success structuring and closing high-value, multi-platform partnerships.
  • Highly strategic, resourceful, and comfortable building where playbooks may not yet exist.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and time management skills.

Benefits

  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)
  • Wellness Resources
  • and more!
