Job description

The Plastic Sales Specialist is a technically driven sales professional with deep expertise in plastics extrusion and fabrication. This role serves as the primary liaison between our organization and OEM customers, combining advanced knowledge of plastic materials, manufacturing processes, and component design to deliver tailored solutions. The Specialist is responsible for driving business growth through consultative selling, relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration with internal engineering and manufacturing teams. This is a field-facing role requiring travel throughout the entire US.
Responsibilities
  • Engage in in-depth technical discussions with customers regarding their projects and requirements. Provide expert guidance and recommend optimal solutions aligned with customer specifications. Act as a trusted advisor by understanding customer pain points and delivering highly customized solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, demonstrations, and technical proposals that highlight product benefits and competitive advantages. Effectively communicate our value proposition to engineers, purchasing personnel, decision-makers, and influencers within customer organizations.
  • Establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers in the OEM segment, with a focused emphasis on plastic extrusion. Proactively initiate discussions to understand evolving customer needs, project requirements, and challenges.
  • Work closely with internal engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure proposed solutions meet and exceed customer expectations. Facilitate seamless communication between customers and internal stakeholders, promptly addressing concerns and resolving issues.
  • Stay current with industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics in the plastics sector. Conduct market research to identify potential customers, emerging technologies, and new business opportunities.
  • Utilize CRM tools (Salesforce preferred) to manage customer interactions, track opportunities, and develop effective strategies to grow the customer base.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in plastics product development or manufacturing
  • In-depth knowledge of plastic materials, extrusion processes, injection molding, surface treatments, and related technologies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain enduring customer relationships through a consultative approach
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Highly self-motivated, target-driven, and entrepreneurial in mindset
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms
  • Willingness to travel to meet customers and attend industry events
  • Understanding of plastic extrusion processes
  • Sales experience in manufacturing or industrial markets
  • Technical product knowledge in plastics
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Innovative problem-solving in plastics and regulatory compliance (preferred)
  • Established networking skills within the plastics industry (preferred)
