Benchmark Towing Systems, LLC is a growing heavy-duty towing and recovery company currently hiring experienced CDL Heavy Duty Towing & Recovery Operators in Austin, San Antonio, and Pasadena, Texas.

Our Heavy Duty Operators are responsible for the safe and professional towing, transportation, and recovery of commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, buses, motorhomes, heavy equipment, and other large vehicles. Operators may also respond to breakdowns, accidents, winch-outs, and complex recovery situations.

We are looking for dependable, safety-focused professionals who take pride in their work, equipment, and customer service. Candidates should be comfortable operating heavy-duty wreckers and recovery equipment and working in a 24/7 towing environment that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency calls.

General Accountabilities

The Heavy Duty Towing & Recovery Operator is responsible for safely and professionally performing towing, transport, and recovery services while representing Benchmark Towing Systems, LLC to the highest standard.

Safely operate heavy-duty wreckers, tractors, Landolls, and recovery equipment.

Perform heavy-duty towing, winching, transport, accident recovery, and roadside recovery services.

Properly rig, secure, load, tow, and transport commercial vehicles and heavy equipment.

Respond promptly to dispatch assignments and maintain clear communication with dispatch throughout each call.

Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and equipment.

Inspect chains, straps, cables, winches, hooks, rigging, and securement equipment before use.

Maintain assigned trucks, tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and professional condition.

Follow all company safety policies and applicable DOT, FMCSA, state, and local regulations.

Maintain required CDL qualifications, medical certification, and other licensing or credentials required for the position.

Accurately complete required paperwork, photographs, towing documentation, inspection reports, and other company records.

Provide professional and respectful customer service to commercial customers, law enforcement, vendors, and the general public.

Exercise good judgment when evaluating towing and recovery situations and prioritize safety at all times.

Immediately report accidents, equipment damage, safety concerns, mechanical issues, or other incidents to management.

Protect customer vehicles, cargo, equipment, and company property from unnecessary damage.

Maintain dependable attendance and report to scheduled shifts and on-call assignments on time and prepared for duty.

Be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency calls based on operational needs.

Perform other towing, recovery, transportation, and operational duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications

Candidates for the Heavy Duty Towing & Recovery Operator position with Benchmark Towing Systems, LLC must possess the skills, experience, and professional judgment necessary to safely operate heavy-duty commercial towing and recovery equipment.

Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate for the equipment being operated.

Must meet all applicable DOT and FMCSA driver qualification requirements.

Must maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate when required.

Acceptable motor vehicle driving record.

Heavy-duty towing and recovery experience is strongly preferred.

Knowledge of heavy-duty wreckers, towing equipment, winches, rigging, chains, straps, and proper vehicle securement.

Ability to safely tow and recover tractor-trailers, commercial trucks, buses, motorhomes, heavy equipment, and other large vehicles.

Ability to understand weight distribution, load securement, working load limits, and proper towing and recovery procedures.

Must demonstrate strong situational awareness and sound judgment when working around traffic, disabled vehicles, accident scenes, and recovery operations.

Must be able to understand and adapt to changing weather and roadway conditions, including extreme Texas heat, cold temperatures, rain, thunderstorms, high winds, flooding conditions, and reduced visibility.

Must understand that severe weather can significantly affect vehicle handling, stopping distance, traction, rigging, recovery operations, and overall job-site safety.

Must be capable of determining when weather, traffic, roadway, or recovery conditions create an unsafe working environment and immediately communicate safety concerns to dispatch or management.

Ability to safely work outdoors during daytime and nighttime operations and in various roadside environments.

Must be physically capable of lifting, pulling, carrying, and handling chains, straps, rigging, tools, and other heavy towing and recovery equipment.

Ability to climb onto and around towing equipment and safely work on uneven or roadside surfaces.

Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with dispatch, management, customers, law enforcement, and other personnel.

Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and capable of working independently.

Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, on-call rotations, and emergency recovery calls as required.

Must follow all Benchmark Towing Systems, LLC safety policies and operating procedures.

Safety comes before speed. Operators are expected to recognize unsafe conditions and use professional judgment before beginning or continuing any towing or recovery operation.
