Overview
As a successful Seasonal Tournament Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading, organizing, running operations, and serving as the onsite point of contact for The Ripken Experience™ Aberdeen's baseball tournaments. This paid position will span from early March until late November Our spring and fall tournaments will primarily be on the weekends, while our summer tournaments will take place on both weekdays and weekends.
Seasonal Directing Dates: March 2026 - November 2026
As a Seasonal Tournament Director, you will:
  • Serve as the main onsite point of contact for coaches, umpires, patrons, vendors, and Ripken staff during tournament play
  • Manage and direct tournament staff, including operations staff, scorekeepers/announcers, retail staff, etc.
  • Deal with and handle conflict that may arise during tournament operations
  • Master the Ripken Baseball rules to ensure fair play throughout events
  • Learn 'The Ripken Way' as that's an integral role in operating the best baseball tournaments in the nation
  • Create a fun, dynamic atmosphere for guests, developing camaraderie and acting as a positive role model
  • Adhere to the Ripken values and brand standards, ensuring a consistent representation of excellence
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism while providing extraordinary customer service
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning, displaying initiative, desire, and determination to champion the values associated with the Ripken name and brand
  • Work with and lead staff to achieve objectives effectively and efficiently, while providing a once-in-a-lifetime experience for participants

Qualifications:
This is the perfect part time job for recent college graduates and full-time professionals who have an interest in youth baseball, tournament operations, staff management, and a love for baseball.

  • Proven professional proficiency in managing staff
  • Prior experience in dealing with and handling conflict
  • Top-tier communication skills
  • Engaging, outgoing personality with abundant energy and proactive initiative
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Impeccable time-management and organizational skills
  • Ability and willingness to physically perform all job responsibilities
  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule, primarily on weekends and evenings
  • Availability and ability for on-site work in Aberdeen, MD

Preferred Experience:
  • Prior experience in a managerial/leadership role
  • Previous experience within the sports sector - preferably tournament operations
  • Genuine passion for sports, with a particular emphasis on baseball/softball
  • Some level of experience playing baseball/softball
