PURPOSE OF POSITION:

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

Responsible for welcoming tourists and visitors to historical buildings in the City of Bellevue.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Conducts tours of the Cityโ€™s various tourist attractions.

Provides historical information to visitors and responds to their questions.

Assists in arranging tours for groups.

Assists in maintaining displays of historical and travel literature and dispenses same to the public.

Assists in gathering information for tourism activity reports.

Attendance at assigned work location is an essential function.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs other related duties as directed or as the situation dictates.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY:

Knowledge of Bellevueโ€™s history and culture, as well as the Cityโ€™s historical, recreational and cultural facilities.ย  This is not a prerequisite to employment, but is required within six months of hire for successful performance.

Ability to meet and relate well with the general public in a sensitive and positive manner.

Skilled in oral communication.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is generally performed indoors but is occasionally performed outdoors in various settings, and requires some physical activity, including extended periods of talking, sitting, walking, standing and kneeling.ย ย  An incumbent must have the ability to transport themselves to and from various locations through the City and surrounding jurisdictions.
