About This Role

The Assistant Preschool Director supports the overall operation of the preschool program by helping to ensure high-quality classroom environments, strong instructional practices, and positive relationships with children, families, and staff. The Preschool Assistant Director works collaboratively with the Preschool Director to provide leadership and support for teachers, assist with daily program operations, and maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. This position includes both administrative responsibilities and direct classroom support as needed.


What You'll Do
  1. Assist with daily preschool operations and provide leadership support in the absence of the Preschool Director.
  2. Provide classroom coverage and direct support in classrooms as needed.
  3. Support teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate practices and maintaining high-quality classroom environments.
  4. Assist with teacher support and instructional coaching through classroom observations, collaboration, and ongoing communication.
  5. Support teachers with progress reports, parent conferences, and other academic or developmental documentation.
  6. Coordinate and assist with program enrichment opportunities.
  7. Foster positive daily interactions and relationships with children, families, and staff members.
  8. Support the training and supervision of afternoon and closing staff, including weekly meetings and regular classroom check-ins.
  9. Help maintain compliance with DHS Licensing Rules and Regulations and all preschool policies and procedures.
  10. Participate in ongoing professional development as required by the state and CSUMC Preschool.
  11. Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors and work habits when interacting with children, parents, and staff members.
  12. Assist with maintaining a welcoming, safe, and organized preschool environment.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Preschool Director that support the overall success of the preschool program.

Requirements
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with children in group settings required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff members.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Must maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Must clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
  • Must have Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification.

Nice To Haves
  • Experience supporting or mentoring teachers.
  • Experience in a DHS-licensed center.
  • Comfort with providing a welcoming, values-based weekly lesson in coordination with the Children's Ministry Director.
