Job description


About This Role

The Assistant Preschool Director plays a key role in ensuring the preschool program runs smoothly and effectively. They work closely with the Preschool Director to provide leadership and support for teachers, manage daily operations, and maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. This position requires a unique blend of administrative and classroom skills.


What You'll Do
  1. Provide support and leadership to the preschool program when the Preschool Director is not available.
  2. Fill in as needed in classrooms, offering guidance and support to teachers.
  3. Collaborate with teachers to create high-quality learning environments that cater to children's developmental needs.
  4. Offer instructional coaching and support through classroom observations, team meetings, and ongoing communication.
  5. Assist teachers in preparing progress reports, holding parent conferences, and documenting academic or developmental milestones.
  6. Coordinate and help execute program enrichment activities.
  7. Nurture positive relationships with children, families, and staff members through daily interactions.
  8. Support the development and supervision of afternoon and closing staff, including weekly meetings and regular classroom check-ins.
  9. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
  10. Participate in professional development opportunities as required by the state and CSUMC Preschool.
  11. Exhibit professionalism, integrity, and positive work habits in all interactions with children, parents, and staff members.
  12. Maintain a welcoming, safe, and organized preschool environment.
  13. Perform additional duties assigned by the Preschool Director to support the overall success of the preschool program.

Requirements
  • Must clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
  • Must have Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Must maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff members.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with children in group settings required.
  • Strong understanding of child development and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Associateโ€™s or Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.

Nice To Haves
  • Comfort with providing a welcoming, values-based weekly lesson in coordination with the Children's Ministry Director.
  • Experience in a DHS-licensed center.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring teachers.
