Job description

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Systems Administrator with Load balancing (F5) knowledge for an Air Force Intel System. This position will be located in San Antonio, TX and will be an onsite position.
Responsibilities
Establishes and maintains smooth operation of computer systems (to include operating systems, software and hardware) in networked or stand-alone configurations, maintains system integrity, and upgrades systems and/or servers as required. Install, evaluate, and configure all supported products required. Troubleshoot, isolate, integrate, and correct all problems and anomalies encountered in the installation and subsequent use of the products. May create and document new methods supporting network/system operations and implement changes to procedures. Consults with support teams, help desks, customers and other technical staff in the resolution of problems, coordinates and performs operation and/or maintenance activities for networks/servers, identifies recurring problems and recommends steps to reduce the severity or frequency of problems. May plan for the transition of development and/or production environments to new technologies, utilize system software to monitor the performance of system files, manage system data to maintain performance efficiencies and/or study system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain F5 BIG-IP systems, including Load Balancers, Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs), and SSL offloading configurations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve F5-related performance and availability issues, ensuring minimal service disruptions.
  • Collaborate with network, systems, and security teams to integrate F5 solutions into the broader network and infrastructure environment.
  • Design and implement traffic management rules, including global server load balancing (GSLB) and local server load balancing (LSLB).
  • Manage F5 configurations for SSL/TLS offloading, including key and certificate management for secure communication.
  • Monitor F5 systems for health and performance, providing proactive recommendations for optimization.
  • Configure and maintain F5 iRules to manage application traffic and provide enhanced functionality for specific use cases.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, best practices, and regulatory requirements in the deployment and maintenance of F5 systems.
  • Support incident response and root cause analysis for any F5-related issues impacting critical applications or services.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for F5 configurations, change management, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other IT teams and end-users regarding F5 traffic management solutions.
  • Assist in performing F5 system upgrades, patches

Qualifications
High School with 6 - 9 years (or commensurate experience)
Clearance required: Active TS/SCI
Required Skills and Experience
  • Must have current CompTIA Security+ Certification
  • Experience as a system administrator in a mid to large Windows environment
  • Experience with F5 BIG-IP systems, including Load Balancers, ADCs, and SSL offloading
  • Be able to perform daily system health checks
  • Experience installing software on Windows Servers
  • Experience troubleshooting in a Window environment
  • Experience developing standard operating procedures to perform system functions
