As a title abstractor, you look through real estate records to evaluate a property title for a client. You research past real estate and property records to identify all the relevant information about a property and identify any “clouds.” The clouds you find have the potential to limit whether a property can be bought, sold, or even used. Your duties include gathering information from public documents, assessing potential clouds, and reporting an opinion on the title. Other responsibilities include preparing legal documents, reaching out to other professionals, and meeting deadlines.
