JOB DESCRIPTION

Accounting Manager

Scott + Reid General Contractors, Inc. is seeking an Accounting Manager with at least 8 years of financial reporting experience in the commercial construction industry. The Accounting Manager will work closely with all members of the accounting team, project executives and regional leadership teams.


Responsibilities

• Lead the timely and accurate recording and reporting of business operations in accordance with GAAP

• Coordinate, prepare, record, review, and report various elements related to the Month End Close, Quarter End Close and Year End Close processes

• Create and update various reports relevant to internal and external reporting needs

• Perform review procedures on vendor invoices, check disbursements and customer billings as needed

• Preparation of bank reconciliations

• Preparation of payroll related journal entries and reports

• Coordination and preparation of sales tax calculations, filings and payment

• Reconciliation of property, plant and equipment balances and associated depreciation and amortization entry calculations. Maintain adherence to capitalization policy

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external accountants as needed

• Ensure subcontractor/vendor compliance including Certificate of Insurance tracking

• Assist in ad hoc inquiries and requests from Accounting team, Project teams, and other Corporate level departments

• Preparation of variance reports and investigation of fluctuations outside of expectations

• Various responsibilities related to on-going accounting system implementation

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing training and guidance as needed

• Assist in evaluating team workloads and improving accounting processes for efficiency

• Participate in recruiting and onboarding new accounting team members

• Preparation of documentation related to Internal Controls or Standard Operating Procedures or workflows relevant to the Accounting department as needed

• Communicate, as needed, with project and organizational leadership

• Ability to learn and support other various accounting functions as needed


The successful candidate will possess:

• 7+ years of accounting experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Excellent time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment

• CMiC experience required

• Sage 300 / Timberline experience a plus

• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office suite – with an emphasis on Excel (including PivotTable and VLookUp proficiencies)

• Knowledgeable in US GAAP

• Knowledgeable in Construction Accounting and Work-In-Progress schedules

• Knowledgeable in AIA billing

• Knowledgeable in lien waivers

• Knowledgeable in payroll processing, recording and reconciliation

• Certified Notary Public a plus

• Public accounting (audit) experience a plus

• High degree of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and conflict resolution skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and clients

• Detail oriented and organized

• A strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude
