Job description

Scudder Roofing is seeking experienced Tile Roofing Installers to join our award-winning team in Marina, CA. We have immediate openings for skilled, hard-working installers who take pride in their craft and know how to work as part of a team. With 42+ years of history serving Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and south Santa Clara counties, we're looking for career-minded professionals who want to grow with a respected local company.


As a Tile Roofing Installer on our team, you'll be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of concrete and clay tile roofing systems on residential and commercial properties throughout California's coastal regions. You'll work with various tile profiles including flat, barrel, and S-tile systems, ensuring every installation meets manufacturer specifications, building codes, and our high-quality standards.


Responsibilities:

·       Install concrete and clay tile roofing systems on residential and commercial buildings according to manufacturer specifications and building codes

·       Prepare roof decks by installing proper underlayment, flashings, and battens for tile installation

·       Measure, cut, and fit tiles to ensure proper alignment, overlap, and water drainage

·       Secure tiles using appropriate fastening methods including nails, clips, wire, and adhesives based on roof slope and wind zone requirements

·       Install eave closures, ridge caps, hip and valley tiles, and custom fabricated accessories

·       Apply mortar for hip and ridge tile attachment and weather blocking where specified

·       Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and layout plans

·       Calculate material requirements and roof areas for tile installation

·       Ensure proper tile spacing, alignment, and pattern consistency across the entire roof

·       Install flashing, ventilation, and waterproofing components specific to tile roofing systems

·       Safely load and distribute tile stacks on roof decks without damaging underlayment

·       Repair and replace damaged or broken tiles on existing roofs

·       Transport roofing materials and equipment to and from job sites

·       Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout each project

·       Follow all safety protocols and OSHA requirements at all times

·       Work collaboratively with team members to meet project deadlines

·       Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers


Qualifications & Requirements:

Required:

·       3+ years of proven experience installing tile roofing systems (concrete and/or clay tile)

·       Hands-on experience with tile layout, battening, and fastening techniques

·       Understanding of different tile profiles and installation methods

·       Knowledge of underlayment requirements and proper fastener schedules for different roof slopes

·       Ability to work safely on steep-slope roofs and at heights

·       Physical ability to carry heavy roofing materials (tiles can weigh 600-1,000 lbs per square)

·       Comfortable standing, bending, kneeling, and working in various weather conditions for extended periods

·       Strong balance and coordination for working on sloped surfaces

·       Valid and clean driver's license with reliable transportation

·       Self-motivated with a production-minded approach to roofing work

·       Excellent attention to detail for proper tile alignment and pattern consistency

·       Good mathematical skills for calculating measurements, angles, and material quantities

·       Solid interpersonal and communication skills

·       Strong work ethic and commitment to core values
