Position Overview

1st shift; Sample Board Technician- Level 2 - 8:00am-4:30pm Mon-Fri

Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tile Installer to install tile surfaces on display boards in a warehouse setting. The ideal candidate has experience with a variety of tile materials, strong attention to detail, and the ability to produce high-quality, durable finishes. A tile installer will routinely demonstrate the knowledge, skill, experience, time management abilities, and other traits needed to produce high-quality, long-lasting, successful installations. At Soho, the tile installer plays a crucial role in creating aesthetically pleasing and functional tile displays for showrooms.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Measure, plan, and layout tile installations according to specifications and blueprints
  • Cut, set, and install tile (ceramic, porcelain, stone, glass, etc.) on MDF backer boards.
  • Mix and apply mortar, thinset, and adhesives
  • Ensure tiles are level, plumb, and properly spaced
  • Mix and apply Grout, seal, and finish tile surfaces
  • Repair or replace damaged tile as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Follow all safety standards, building codes, and company procedures
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and supporting staff
  • Occasionally assisting with other warehouse tasks, such as picking and packing orders, conducting inventory counts, and preparing merchandise for shipment.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required skills/abilities
  • Basic knowledge of Warehouse organization procedures. 
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices in the trade.
  • Able to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently. 
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Flexible schedule, including ability to work on weekends, as needed.
education and experience
  • 3-5+ years of professional tile installation experience
  • Knowledge of tile installation methods, tools, and materials
  • Ability to read blueprints and layout plans
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
  • Physical ability to lift materials and work in kneeling or standing positions for extended periods
  • Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Certification or apprenticeship in tile installing (CTI) is a plus but not always required.

  • Standing, walking, bending, squatting most of the time.
  • Repetitive motions include pushing & pulling with hands most of the time. 
  • Physical stamina and strength for lifting and carrying heavy materials.
  • Frequently carrying up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to lift and move heavy merchandise items. Large format displays are typically 100-200 lbs and up to 8 feet long. This requires 2-3 people to safely handle each display. This requires coordination, care, and proper techniques to ensure people are safe and the product remains undamaged.
  • Seldom sitting or crawling.
