Job description

Position Summary
1. Supervises General Carpenters, painters, drywall installers.
2. Coordinates work requests, minor construction, and preventive maintenance.
3. Orders and maintains adequate inventory of materials and parts.
4. Coordinates contracted repairs services.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
1. Supervises General Carpenters, painters and drywall installers, including execution of performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
2. Coordinates work requests, minor construction projects, and preventive maintence.
a) Evaluates, prioritizes, and assigns qork requests to staff. Ensures proper completion of work requests within a reasonable time frame.
b) Meets with staff members of other departments to evaluate minor construction needs.
c) Assigns scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and ensures completion. Suggests update and additions to the system to ensure an effective preventive maintenance program.
d) Coordinates patient room enhancements (painting and various repair work) with Nursing Administration, Admissions, and Plant Operations staff, in order to minimize amount of time room will be out of service.
3. Orders materials as needed to maintain adequate inventory, promoting, prompt repair of essential items, especially patient or safety related items. Adheres to departmental purchasing procedures and ensures staff compliance with established purchasing policies.
4. Coordinates as necessary contracted repair services such as window repair and furniture reupholstry. Ensures contractors work is done efficiently with minimal interruption of normal facility operations.
5. Performs other duties as assigned. May assist Plant Operations Division in Maintaining warehouse storage, Cleaning of shop area, or installation of new equipment. Assists in seasonal requests such as Christmas decorations.
6. Demonstrates appropriate, caring behavior in the workplace treating patients, their families, visitors and staff with respect and dignity.
Minimum Requirements
High School or equivalent (or higher)
Five or more years of experience in previous construction related experience obtained from working as Carpenter on jobs from beginning to end or working as General Carpenter in hospital environment.
Pay Range
$28.58 - $41.66
Other Information
Shift Expectations: 1st shift with on call capabilities.
